Originally from Port Jervis (in upstate New York), Mike received a B.A in philosophy from the University of Rochester before studying composition at Berklee College of Music and receiving a master's degree in music theory from the University of Maryland.
Some of the teachers that Mike studied with include: Ed Bedner, Charles Banacos, Wade Beach,Ron Elliston and Dusi Mura.
In 1983 he moved to California where he is a professional piano player who has played with many well known artists in various locations around the globe.
